Elizabeth Robberechts manages all IDB Invest’s activities in the energy, transport, water and sanitation, health and education sectors. Her experience includes structuring financings in the energy and transport sectors for operations in Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and Brazil, including a variety of renewable energy technologies such as solar, wind and geothermal projects. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Cornell University.
Maria Netto Schneider
Executive Director, Institute for Climate and Society
Maria Netto has a long history of supervising innovative financing strategies, working with local financial institutions and capital markets to promote financial inclusion and private sector investments in low-carbon projects, and strengthening resilience in the Latin America and Caribbean region. During her time with iCS and in her past roles at the Inter-American Development Bank and New Development Bank, she worked with a wide range of sectors on issues such as land use, low-carbon agriculture, renewable energy, energy efficiency, resilient and sustainable infrastructure, and urban mobility, among others. She has a master’s degree in economics from the Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.
Carlos “Ucho” Barrera
CEO, Atlas Renewable Energy
Carlos “Ucho” Barrera is the co-founder and CEO of Atlas Renewable Energy, a leading Renewable Energy company with operations in the Americas and currently one of the largest solar IPPs in the region, with an asset base of more than 8.4 GW and an enterprise value exceeding $3bn. Before starting Atlas, Ucho worked at major energy companies such as SunEdison and BP, always working in the global alternative energy market. Ucho holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and an Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
